Research Interests

My principal interests all stem from the ultimate goal of predicting eruptions. I am interested in new techniques that produce data that can be integrated into models of the behaviour of a volcano. Once we understand the behaviour, we can try and improve our interpretation of the signals produced by a monitoring network and improve our predictive capacity.

•  Conduit processes and the transition between effusive and explosive activity

•  Interpretation of complex time series data

•  Imaging the subsurface through the integration of geophysical and geochemical data

•  Integrating thermal monitoring of volcanoes with other data sets

•  Geochemical monitoring of active volcanoes

Volcanoes are my passion. That is why I am in Colima and why I started CIIV in 2004. But Colima has a lot more to offer than just its thundering beast. In 2002 I met Any who was to become my wife and long-time sufferer of my somewhat extreme dedication to my science.
