Version española Versión española
Welcome to the webpage of the Centre of Exchange and Research in Volcanology. This centre has been running since 2004 with an objective to improve our knowledge of Volcán de Colima and other volcanoes in Mexico, and to facilitate the visits of students from outside of Colima who wish to have some hands-on experience working at an active volcano. The centre has received many students from various countries including the UK, USA, Germany, Canada, Italy and France. They have worked alongside Mexican colleagues and students, taking part in a number of research projects based on some of the active volcanoes of Mexico.

 News - 2010
Growing dome
The long slow dome growth at Volcán de Colima continues into 2010. We are now celebrating its 3rd anniversary. The dome has now reached the edge of the crater but rockfalls are infrequent reflecting the low effusion rate.

Chile 2010
Nick has gone to Chile in January to participate in a project at Villarrica and Chaitén volcanoes. At Villarrica a temporary seismic and acoustic network is being installed. A cable is being mounted above the crater to hang a video camera to get a view inside the narrow inner-crater which hosts the lava lake. If possible thermal imagery will also be taken.
