Temperature of fumaroles on the crater rim

Graph showing the changing temperatures of the fumaroles on the northern crater rim. The values indicated are the mean overnight apparent temperatures of the fumaroles, as measured by VarioCAM infrared camera (8-14 microns) from the adjacent Nevado de Colima. Data are collected every 7-14 days. Error bars show variation in the recorded data. Apparent fumarole temperatures are susceptible to pixel-size considerations and to absorption of radiation by the atmosphere.

We are very grateful to the Protection Civil department of Jalisco, without whom this study would not be possible.
